Orbit is built around a simple principle: what you share with people you care about is private. We don't access it, read it, or sell it.

Orbit does not read your messages.
Orbit never accesses your messages, emails, or any conversation content.
No contacts permission required.
You add people manually. Orbit does not import or scan your address book.
No location permission required.
The Map view uses cities you enter manually. Precise location is never requested.
Your data stays under your control.
You can delete any person or all your data at any time from within the app.

No. Orbit never accesses your messages, iMessage, email, or any other communication. All the information in Orbit is entered by you directly.
No. You can add anyone to Orbit by typing their name manually. Orbit does not request access to your address book.
No. The Map view is city-level only. You type a city name for each person — Orbit never asks for or uses your device's precise location.
Yes, completely. Open the person's profile, scroll to the bottom, and tap Remove. This permanently deletes them and all associated interactions from your Orbit.

Overview

Orbit ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Orbit is designed to be private by default. We do not read your messages, access your conversations, or monitor your communication activity in any form.

Information you provide

When you use Orbit, you may choose to enter:

  • Names of people you want to stay close to
  • A city associated with each person
  • Notes and context about your relationships
  • Logged interactions — dates, types (call, chat, in-person), and optional notes
  • Closeness levels and relationship states you assign

This information is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers except where cloud backup is explicitly enabled by you.

Optional permissions

Photos and camera: Orbit may ask for access only when you choose to add a person's avatar photo. You can use Orbit without adding photos.

Contacts: Orbit does not request access to your contacts in this version. People are added manually.

Location: Orbit does not request your device's location. City information is entered manually by you.

What Orbit does not collect

  • Message or email content of any kind
  • Conversation history or communication metadata
  • Precise or background location
  • Behavioral data for advertising
  • Biometric data
  • Financial information

Third-party services

Orbit may use the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Apple App Store (distribution and purchase)
  • Photon by Komoot / OpenStreetMap-based city search, used only when you search for a city

We do not sell, share, or license your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

Your rights

You can delete any person, interaction, or all your data at any time from within the app. Because your data is stored locally by default, deleting the app removes it entirely from your device.
